November 21

Please remember to go to the link  https://sheralynrt.youcanbook.me/
sign up for a parent/teacher  and child's conference.  Thanks to everyone who has already signed up.  Just a reminder that these conferences are 30 minutes long - 15 minutes with your child and then you will meet with me for the last 15 minutes.

Today Division 7 and 6 had their own vote.  We had 4 choices of songs for the Christmas concert.  We had a ballot, voted and then in music we found out the winners!  We will be sending home a copy of the songs next week and if you could practice at home that would be great.  As far as what to wear we will keep you posted asap but it will be simple.

This week we moved table groups and started both new reader's workshop and new explorations,
The bubble and lincoln logs are two of the favourite stations. We learned a cool new game in gym called Rock/Paper/Scissor!  We are learning about adjectives and are making "Accordian Me" that describe ourselves.   Ms D taught us 3 new math games to practice our addition and subtraction and we reviewed the strategy of counting on and how it works for both +/-!   For our Force and MotionTheme we have been trying new stations and tried some new things, discovered and have come up with some good questions.

Today we have brought open a neat Math game called Moooove It!  Hopefully you will all have a chance to play it sometime over the weekend.

Scholastic orders went home today and they are due Dec. 1st.  Thanks to Sam's mom for getting these all ready for us.  If any of you want any of the books as Christmas gifts please just write it on the order form and I will give it directly to you instead of to your child.    Have a great weekend.

THANKS! Conferences Wednesday, Dec. 3rd afternoon and Thursday, Dec. 4th

Thank you to Marco and Lachlan's mom, Kevin's Dad and Mallary's grandma for driving for skating plus of course to all parents who drove their own children.  Without all your help this field trip wouldn't have been possible!

For your child's conference on Dec. 3rd or Dec. 4th please go to the link below to sign up. School will be dismissed early on Wednesday the 3rd at 11:30 a.m. and there is no school at all on Thursday the 4th.

These conferences are student, parent and teacher so that we can celebrate your child's learning together and everyone will be part of the goal setting for the next school term.

The conferences will be 30 minutes long but the first 15 minutes will be just you and your child and then you will meet with me for the last 15 minutes.

If for some reason you can make any of these times please see me or write a note in the planner so that we can arrange another time.  You will receive your child's report card after we have had this conference.

Parent Drivers if you could please be sure to have your abstracts in and also be at the school by 12:40 that would be really appreciated.  Without an abstract you would only be able to take your own child and unfortunately these do expire after 2 years.

November 14th

It has been a short but busy fun week!  We have started to discover more about our new theme of Force and Motion.  Today, we went on the playground to find different things we can push and pull and filled out a lab report with our findings.

We played a new game in gym that incorporated elements of soccer and basketball and had lots of fun.

On Thursday Ms D did a really cool art lesson inspired by Andrew Goldsworthy. We incorporated various elements such as symmetry, pattern, colour, texture and created our own art!   After Family Reading this morning Ms D presented a slide show of Div. 7's cool nature art projects.

Just a reminder that Family Reading is every Friday from 8:30-8:45.

Also please remember Just Right Reading Bags should be going back and forth from home to school each day.

We wrote some real neat Halloween stories with our Big Buddies and started to present them this week.

Looks like we will be able to go Skating on Monday, Nov. 17th!  Thanks to many parents who have volunteered to drive (thanks for getting your driver's abstract in so quickly) and accompany us.
All children must bring their Booster Seats, skates and clothing for skating to school on Monday!

November

Missy, Quinn's rabbit came for Your Time on Monday.  She seemed to really like our classroom and many students really enjoyed her visit.

Ms D is with our class full time now, she taught us about Peace and we made these cool Acrostic Poems on a dove.  We used these and our poppy paintings to make a display in the gym. We thought it looked pretty good!  What do you think?
We had a Remembrance Day Assembly and we were all very mindful so we got Mind-up slips!

Just Right Reading came home on Thursday and should now be coming to school every day.   There was a letter inside the ziplock bag explaining our JRR, but if you have any questions please just ask.

Finally all our spider webs are finished...we think they look cool!

Just a reminder that we have skating on Monday, November 17th.  Please send in forms as soon as possible and yes we do need parent volunteers and drivers.  Thanks!

Hope you all have a great 4 day long weekend.  Please remember we do not have school either Monday or Tuesday.
